This bare bones, concrete backyard had little to no shade in the beginning. The end result consisted of a custom-built pergola to build shade for over 150 plants. Instead of digging into the concrete, we added pavers on pedestals to unify all of the elements.

This space was in need of added layers and dimension, while also incorporating existing hardscape. Trees, shrubs, and trailing plants added that immediate dimension that will continue to grow overtime.

Our added pergola with shade sails created a cool spot for lounging in the summer.

This space had limited room to entertain, and there were existing level changes in the space. We incorporated those levels to create a zone for entertaining, and we allowed their Japanese Maple tree to shine as the space’s focus.

This woodland, shaded backyard included existing hardscape, which is a challenge many face when redesigning a space. We repurposed existing bluestone tile and filled this space with plants that continue to thrive in constant shade.

Location: Ocean Hill

This small yard contained existing concrete and needed a design that would remain kid-friendly for a growing family. Our use of hardscape and choice of plant placement provides depth to the space, while also giving extra room for the kids to play.
